Roadmap for Regular Vehicle Maintenance in Georgia
November 5, 2018 - An article online at axcessnews.com provides information about regular maintenance on a vehicle, including what you should do and when you should do it.*
Regular maintenance, like oil changes and tire rotations, can prolong the life of your vehicle and prevent you from breaking down or having an accident on the road. Here are some tips for routine maintenance on your own vehicle.
Oil Changes – Most car owners understand they need to change the oil in their vehicles regularly. Cars depend on clean oil to function properly. Most vehicles need oil changes every 3,000 to 5,000 miles, but every vehicle will different recommendations regarding the oil in the owner’s manual. Check your manual to make sure you are changing the oil often enough.
Tire Pressure Checks– Every car owner should have a handheld gauge to check the pressure in a vehicle’s tires. The pressure should certainly be checked if a tire looks low, and it is wise to check when the seasons change. Particularly when winter comes along, tire pressure can become thrown off. Always consult your owner’s manual for appropriate tire pressure, as a tire that is over- or under-inflated can blow and cause an accident.
Brake Inspections – Brakes are unquestionably one of the most important parts of a vehicle, so they need to be routinely monitored. A telltale sign that your brake pads are wearing down is squeaking or screeching noises when you brake. Remember, an accident can occur from worn brake pads. Don’t wait until your pads are almost whittled to nothing to have them checked and replaced.
