Mock Car Accident Provides Education for Teens in Fillmore County, Georgia

May 02, 2018

FILLMORE COUNTY, GA – April 27, 2018 (kttc.com).  According to an online news report at kttc.com, a fake accident involving real emergency personnel helps educate teens on driver safety.*

The mock accident commonly occurs in real life where a teen driver who is distracted strikes a bicyclist head on, leading to injuries and even fatalities.

The audience were students from grades 7 through 12, and the accident scene was performed by student-actors in their 12thyear of high school.  Emergency personnel’s goal for the demonstration is to show teen drivers what it looks like when they make poor decisions while driving, including texting when behind the wheel.

The staged accident was treated like a real life situation so as to convey the message of what true dangers lie on the road for teenage drivers.  Students were also advised as to the potential implications of driving while distracted and impaired.
