Teenage Brothers Suffer Fatal Injuries Following South Fulton County Car Accident

Many car accidents will bring more questions than answers. Some accidents can seem inexplicable, and it may be extremely difficult to know what went wrong. It can take months if not years to fully understand how and why an accident has occurred. A recent accident in South Fulton County has left three College Park teens dead. Two of the three victims were brothers, and all of the teenagers had been celebrating Homecoming at their former high school shortly before the accident occurred. There are very few details known about the accident, but what is clear is that the young men who lost their lives too soon had bright futures ahead of them.

So, What Went Wrong?

The parents and loved ones of these teenagers are trying to put the pieces back together and are struggling with how and why this happened. The only details released to the public indicate that a witness saw a pickup truck flipped upside down approximately two miles from the high school where the teenagers had been. One victim was seen laying on the ground next to the truck.

At this time, no witnesses have come forward stating that they saw the accident take place. Because there is very little information to go on, the possibilities for why this accident occurred are endless. A few potential causes that investigators may consider include, but are not limited to, the following:

Distracted Driving – This has become a serious problem among all drivers, but especially younger drivers who may be using their cell phone and other devices more frequently while driving. In addition to using a cell phone while driving (which includes talking on the phone, texting, taking photos, and posting to social media sites), distracted driving can involve listening to music too loudly, putting on makeup while behind the wheel, looking at something to the side of the road instead of straight ahead, or simply having a conversation with a passenger, among many other possibilities.

Driving Under the Influence – Being intoxicated while behind the wheel is something that has been a problem for decades, and while some cities have seen a reduction in the incidence of drunk driving, other cities have either seen no change or an increase in drunk driving. Driving under the influence can not only be a cause of a fatal accident, but increases the likelihood of tragedy occurring.

Defective Tires or Brakes – It is not uncommon these days for cars to have particular defects that play a role in car and truck accidents. Such defects may lead to brake or tire failure, making it difficult if not impossible for a driver to control the vehicle, and may result in a deadly accident.

Hopefully, a thorough investigation will shed light on how this heart-wrenching accident happened so that the parents and family members of the deceased teenagers can have some answers as to what went wrong, providing some closure to a tragic and horrific situation.
