Georgia Woman Killed While Inspecting Car By Side of Road

March 13, 2016

A tragic accident recently claimed the life of a 30-year-old woman in Savannah. Police report that the woman, an aspiring actress, was struck while attempting to deal with car trouble. The accident victim was the front seat passenger in a Hyundai Accent. The driver stopped the vehicle to look for the cause of the check engine light. As the passenger stood outside the vehicle, she was struck by a Chevrolet Camaro driven by a 35-year-old. Sadly, she was pronounced dead at the hospital. The accident victim, who appeared in several films including Hunger Games and Fast and Furious 7, will be mourned by her friends and family.

At Montlick and Associates, Attorneys at Law, our Car Accident Attorneys understand how tragic it can be to lose a loved one unexpectedly in a car accident. Car accidents can never be foreseen and a fatal crash often leaves relatives emotionally, mentally, and financially in a difficult place. Our firm fights for the recovery of car accident victims and their families, zealously striving to see that our clients obtain the compensation they deserve.

Roadside and Disabled Vehicle Accidents

We have all likely seen a disabled vehicle on the side of the road. Whether it is the motorist standing by the vehicle, a Good Samaritan offering a hand, or roadside assistance arriving to help, anyone standing by the side of the road shares a risk of being injured or killed in a roadside accident. Those standing by the roadside will have cars whizzing past at 50, 60 or even more miles per hour. A distracted driver, a skid, or any other sort of intervening event can send a car spiraling towards the disabled vehicle and the people outside of it.

Staying Safe in the Event Your Vehicle Becomes Disabled

If your car has become disabled or you need to stop while driving on the roadside, there are steps you can take to ensure your safety. The first step is making sure to safely pull your car as far off of the road as possible. Move well into the grassy area by the highway or, if possible, make it into a rest stop or another safe area to stop. If it is an emergency situation, be sure to pull off of the road as far as possible. Next, you should call a tow truck or other emergency service to come assist you.
