Two People Lose Their Lives in Tragic DUI Accident

August 19, 2015

Automobile accidents involving drunk driving are likely to continue despite efforts to stop and prevent such conduct. Many drunk drivers are stopped before they can cause an accident, but when such drivers do so, the aftermath can be horrific, resulting in serious injuries or death. A recent drunk driving accident demonstrates that all drivers and passengers on our roadways are vulnerable.

Two individuals lost their lives when a drunk driver struck the back of their jeep, which then flipped over an exit ramp, according to WJTV 12. The deceased individuals' loved ones are left with unanswered questions and feelings of uncertainty.

The True Consequences of Drunk Driving Accidents

All automobile accidents have the potential to result in debilitating injuries and death. However, when such consequences are the result of egregious conduct such as drunk driving, there is an additional level of pain that may not be shared by others. Such an experience leaves a scar that cannot simply be undone. As such, any injured individual, or loved ones of victims who have passed away should seek recourse to hold a drunk driver responsible for his or her actions. Even if a drunk driver faces criminal charges, it does not make an injured or deceased person whole again.

Aside from the physical and mental pain associated with a drunk driving accident, additional consequences suffered by victims and/or their loved ones include, but are not limited to, the following:

• Extensive medical expenses;
• Daily treatment with or without the assistance of a medical professional (i.e., occupational and/or physical therapy);
• Repeated doctor visits;
• Inability to work again;
• Loss of enjoyment of life;
• Fear of being in a car ever again;
• Permanent injuries that can result in one's inability to walk;
• Brain damage;
• Spinal cord damage;
• Paralysis; and
• Amputations.

It is rare for any two automobile accidents to result in the exact same injuries, so it is important to understand that every case must be evaluated on an individual basis. In order to truly determine whether or not you or a loved one can be able to pursue legal action to recover for injuries suffered, it is essential to speak with a skilled legal professional who can evaluate the facts and circumstances of your case as well as take the necessary actions to protect your rights.
