Mercedes-Benz GLE and ML SUVs Engine Stall Accident Lawyers

January 09, 2023

According to a recall announcement posted on consumerreports.org, Mercedes-Benz has issued a recall of certain GLE and ML SUVs. The recall stated that some GLE and ML models have a defect that causes the SUVs to stall out. When the affected SUVs' engines stall, the vehicle could cause an accident resulting in injuries or fatalities.

According to the report, water in the spare tire well might leak onto the fuel pump, causing it to fail and subsequently cause the engine to stall. This auto recall affects more than 323,000 SUVs.

Mercedes-Benz stated that the models affected include ML and GLE SUVs with model years between 2012 to 2020. Mercedes-Benz advises that owners should inspect the cargo area and look for signs of damp carpeting or listen for a "water sloshing sound," or watch for a check-engine light. Mercedes-Benz has been aware of more than 750 warranty claims, service reports, and field reports concerning the issue in the United States since March 2019.

Mercedes-Benz will notify all known owners, and the customers will be able to bring their affected vehicles to a dealership inspection and to install a spare tire well water drain plug, and replace the existing fuel pump if required. Mercedes-Benz will reimburse affected owners for any associated repairs performed before to this recall. Mercedes-Benz stated that they were not knowledgeable of any crash, injury, property damage, or death claims connected to this defect in the United States.

The Mercedes-Benz Vehicles Recalled:

  • 2012 to 2014 ML550;
  • 2012 to 2015 ML350, AMG ML63, 2015 ML250, ML400;
  • 2016 GLE450, GLE300;
  • 2016 to 2018 GLE350, GLE550;
  • 2016 to 2019 GLE400;
  • 2016 to 2020 AMG GLE63; and
