Louisville Metro Police Department Reports Wrong-way Collisions Are on the Rise
LOUISVILLE, KENTUCKY - A news report published on wlky.com states that the Louisville Metro Police Department issued a statement that the agency is seeking a rise in wrong-way collisions and it might be from drunk driving.
So far, there have been 93 fatal accidents this year in Jefferson County. The article states that the number of wrong-way accidents last month has risen noticeably.
The Louisville Metro Police Department is now working to warn drivers to pay attention and slow down to avoid accidents. Sargeant Fey stated that officers see several drivers speeding to the point that it is then considered reckless.
There were fifteen deadly accidents last month. Four of those fatal accidents were precipitated by wrong-way drivers. The Louisville Metro Police Department stated that many of those accidents were caused by drunk drivers.
"We're just trying to increase the presence of enforcement to deter the impaired driving that happens a lot of time in the evenings, and we're working with signage and education as well," Fey said. He believes that accidents can be greatly reduced if drivers made better choices.
