GDOT to Redevelop Dangerous Harville Road and Langston Chapel Road Intersection
BULLOCH COUNTY, GEORGIA - A dangerous intersection in Bulloch County, Georgia, is undergoing a dramatic change to improve safety.
The Georgia Department of Transportation states that they are moving forward to improve the intersection of Harville Road and Langston Chapel Road. According to the report, Langston Chapel Road converges with Harville Road, but the intersection is particularly dangerous because the roads meet in the middle of a curve. Residents in the area report that there is an accident that occurs almost every day.
The Georgia Department of Transportation states they are planning a roundabout to replace the intersection, hoping the roundabout makes the area safer.
According to Jill Nagel with the Georgia Department of Transportation, roundabouts provide fewer collision points, and roundabouts are a safer alternative. She also stated that the government would need to purchase property from the church and residents in the area. The project is estimated to cost approximately $2 million, and the construction would begin in around two years.
