Study Says Driver Error Causes 90% of All Car Accidents in South Dakota (SD)

According to a new auto accident report published by the South Dakota Department of Public Safety, more than 460 accidents in 2020 were associated with "improper backing."  These types of accidents accounted for about 2.6% of the total amount of motor vehicle accidents in the state. Distracted driving caused approximately 745 car accidents.  

The research study also reported that the South Dakota county that had the most traffic accidents in 2020 was Minnehaha County, with over 5,200 motor vehicle accidents.

The study conducted by Esurance discovered that about 77% of drivers had been involved in at least one motor vehicle accident.  The study also has found that the average person will be involved in three to four motor vehicle accidents during their lifetime.  The study also states that driver-related errors are the reason for the crash in about 90% of accidents.  This report states that improper braking, fatigued driving, distracted driving, and violating the right-away lead the way for accident causes.According to the news story, the best way to prevent a motor vehicle accident is always to pay attention while driving.  Especially, when driving commonly traveled routes.
