Cars Brands That Are Most Frequently Involved in Deadly Crashes in the United States

October 28, 2020

USA- Newsweek.com reports that a study conducted recently found that Fords, Chevrolets, Toyotas, and Hondas are involved in the highest number of fatal collisions in the United States.

The study analyzed crash data from the last twelve months to reach their results. The vehicle involved in the highest number of fatal accidents, based on those records, was the Chevrolet Silverado. The popular pickup truck was involved in 1,774 deadly crashes over the course of the study.

The motor vehicle involved in the second most fatal accidents was another pickup truck- Ford's F-150. The Ford F-150 is the most popular pickup truck.  The Ford F-150 outsells its closest competitor by approximately 400,000 units per year. The study discovered that the truck was involved in 1,539 deadly collisions. In fact, pickup trucks account for six places in the top ten list of deadliest vehicles.

The Honda Accord is the second most purchased motor vehicle in the United States. The Honda Accord ranked third on the list of motor vehicles involved in the most deadly collisions in the United States.

When it comes to overall crashes for all models made by each manufacturer, Ford came in first with 7,354 deadly collisions involving its vehicles. Chevrolets were next with 6,975 deadly crashes involving these cars, and Toyotas were in third place.

The study also indicated that men were more likely to tragically die in these crashes than were women. When it comes to the fatal Chevy Silverado crashes, men were at the wheel in 1,538 of those incidents as compared to just 194 that involved female drivers. Similar numbers are reported for the Ford F-150, where 1,318 of the drivers involved in crashes were men, and 161 were women. Men are also more likely to drive trucks in general, though.

When looking into the third car on the list, the gender disparity is less pronounced, although still apparent. Of the total number of fatal crashes involving Honda Accords, 663 involved male drivers, and 370 of the drivers were women. Researchers also pointed out that the numbers do not indicate who was at fault in the crashes.
