Tips for Safe Driving in Heavy Traffic
USA- Fluxmagazine.com writes that driving in heavy traffic can be challenging. If you follow another car too closely, you may not have enough time to stop in an event there is an emergency.*
Safety experts typically say that you should have three seconds of space between your car and the car in front of you. Some other safe driving tips recommended include:
- Slow Down - If you see brake lights, remove your foot from the gas pedal and then gradually slow down. Slamming on your brakes could put you at risk for being struck by the driver behind you.
- Use turn signals in these conditions as they let other drivers understand your intentions. Signal long before changing lanes in order to give other motorists a chance to see your indicator and adjust speed if necessary.
- Stay Calm - Other advice includes staying calm, paying attention to the road, planning your route and travel ahead of time to avoid heavy traffic, and finding an alternate route to take when traffic is too congested.
