Teens in Georgia Invited to Create PSA Regarding Speeding

January 15, 2020

SAVANNAH, GA- Wsav.com writes that speeding kills more teens in Georgia than anything else, and that about 9,000 people die across the country every year because of speeding vehicles.*

In Georgia, the National Road Safety Foundation (NRSF) is challenging teens to submit 30-second PSA regarding the dangers of speeding.

The teen who wins the contest will receive $2,000 and have their PSA filmed by an Emmy award-winning director. The final product will then air on television stations across the country. Because the ad will be made by teens, it will likely resonate with a young audience.

According to the NRSF, speeding is often overlooked as a dangerous traffic safety issue.  While drivers often are concerned about getting a ticket for violating the speed limit, the consequences can be far worse. Drivers who speed put their lives and the lives of other innocent people at risk on the roadway. Not only are your chances of getting into a crash higher when you are speeding, but the resulting accident is likely to be far worse.

Drivers who speed are at a higher risk of losing control of their vehicles, impairing their ability to stop in time when an emergency takes place, reducing the effectiveness of safety equipment in their cars, and wasting fuel.

Not only is it essential to abide by posted speed limits, but drivers must also understand that in certain situations, the speed limit could be too fast. In bad weather, on roads that are under repair, and in other imperfect driving conditions, traveling below the speed limit might be necessary.

It is well documented that most accidents can be prevented with a little extra care and safety education.  Since 1984, Montlick & Associates has been dedicated to keeping children and families safe on the roadway.  Our commitment runs deep through our extensive, award-winning public service programs that provide people the information they need to avoid injuries.  To learn about our Don't Drink and Drive Campaign, Child Passenger Safety Programs, Booster Seat Campaign and much more, visit montlick.com and click on “community service,” or simply click here.
