Tesla Model S Causing Man to Crash the Vehicle into his Garage After Overriding Manual Commands
MEMPHIS, TN – A man's Tesla reportedly slammed into his garage after overriding the manual driver commands, according to an online news report published on AUTOEVOLUTION.com.*
The collision occurred in Memphis, Tennessee back in October. The man stated that he had his red Tesla Model S for less than a month and experienced no issues until it caused significant damage to his three-car garage.
The man indicated that after having his vehicle fitted for new mats, he pulled into his garage where a charging station was located. While attempting to steer the car towards the right, the car prevented him from doing so.
Apparently, as the driver was trying to steer his vehicle to the right, the car kept going until it slammed into the garage door and into a wall. The accident caused serious damage to the vehicle and the garage. The man stated that he did not have his foot on the gas pedal at the time of the accident and he did not have the Autopilot feature engaged. This has left him with many questions as to why his vehicle kept going and would not stop.
Following the accident, the man attempted to contact Tesla or Elon Musk, as well as his insurer. While he has received a response from his insurer that they would cover the cost of the damages, Tesla has yet to comment on the accident. The man is reaching out to the public, hoping to hear from others as to whether they have encountered the same dangerous malfunctions.
