Georgia Man Tragically Killed in Wreck Between UPS, DOT Trucks on I-20 in Cleburne, Alabama

CLEBURNE, AL. – According to an online news report posted at, a Georgia man was tragically killed in a vehicle wreck that occurred on Interstate 20 in Cleburne, Alabama. The collision reportedly involved a UPS truck and an Alabama Department of Transportation truck, though little information about the accident has currently been reported.*

The collision took place in the late morning, near mile marker 200 on the westbound side of I-20. The Alabama Law Enforcement Agency and WBRC report that around 10:30 a.m., a UPS tractor-trailer and an Alabama DOT truck were somehow involved in a crash close to Exit 205. It is not clear at this time how the accident happened. 

None of the events leading to the crash or circumstances involved in the collision have been reported at this time. Authorities have not said in what way the two vehicles crashed or what factors might have been involved in the accident. It is unclear if the wreck happened in a construction zone on the interstate.

WBRC reports that one person was tragically killed in the collision. He was identified as a 64-year-old man from Monroe, Georgia. It is not clear if he was driving one of the vehicles or was a passenger or bystander. 

WBRC further reports that three other people sustained injuries in the crash, and emergency responders took them to a local hospital for treatment. These people were not identified, and the extent of their injuries was not reported. It is not clear how they were involved in the crash.

The crash resulted in all of the westbound lanes closing down, beginning at mile marker 200. Officials urged drivers to use Highway 78 or Highway 46 at this time in order to avoid the area. Alabama State Troopers are still in the process of investigating the wreck.
