Jet Ski Accident With Injuries in Mobile, Alabama (AL)
MOBILE, Ala. — A father and his daughter sustained injuries after an inattentive jet ski rider ran them over on Dog River in Mobile, Alabama. The father and daughter escaped life-threatening injuries. Still, they were badly hurt in the incident, according to a report appearing on News 4 San Antonio. There was no information provided about whether the police charged the jet ski operator with any crimes or issued a ticket. The witnesses to the event described the jet ski riders as teenagers who acted carelessly and were not paying attention. The wife and mother of the two accident victims pleaded with people who rider jet skis and operate other watercraft in the area to pay close attention to people swimming.
The wife and mother of the two accident victims, who witnessed the scary incident, described her family’s frightening ordeal on Facebook. She wrote, according to News 4 San Antonio, that her husband and daughter were swimming on Dog River. Both were wearing life jackets. She said that one was on a tube and the other was on a wakeboard. Suddenly, they observed a jet ski heading straight for them and riding extremely fast.
Only a father’s quick reaction saved them both. The father dove on top of his daughter and pushed her underwater as deep as possible to avoid a collision. Somehow the jet ski rode over the top of them without killing them.
The collision with the jet ski injured the father and daughter. The daughter sustained a broken hand, along with bruises and a cut on her elbow. Her father suffered severe lacerations to his hands and injured his knee.
The badly-shaken woman blamed the incident on reckless teens who should not have been riding a jet ski because they were so careless, especially in an area renowned for bathing.
