Auburn Man Dies in Tragic Annalue Drive Collision

March 21, 2020

AUBURN, AL- Atvm.com writes that a man died in a late-night crash on Annalue Drive. The incident involved two vehicles that collided on Annalue Drive. The victim was a 32-year-old man who died at the scene.*

Reports indicate that the victim was traveling westbound on Annalue Drive when he entered oncoming traffic and struck an eastbound car. There were two people in the other car, and both sustained injuries in the collision. The two injured individuals were transported to the Piedmont Columbus Regional Hospital for treatment. Current reports did not indicate the conditions of those two individuals.

There is some indication that the wet roadway and speed might have been contributing factors in the deadly wreck. The investigation into the crash is still underway.

Wet roads and rainfall are risk factors that lead to many crashes every year. Rain is the most likely weather event to cause vehicle crashes, in part because rain occurs more often than snow or ice. When it comes to wet pavement, cars often lose traction, which can lead to tragic results. Many motorists do not realize that their cars may hydroplane, causing them to lose all control over their vehicle in less than one inch of water.

When it comes to driving on wet roads or during any inclement weather, the most important thing for a driver to do is to slow down. In many cases, drivers must reduce their speed to below the posted limit in order to travel safely on wet pavement. A driver can even be cited for traveling too fast for road conditions when they are traveling at or below the speed limit.
