Georgia Man Tragically Killed in Pedestrian Accident on U.S. 45 in Mobile County, Alabama

MOBILE COUNTY, AL. – According to a news report posted online at, a man from Georgia was tragically killed in a pedestrian accident that occurred on U.S. Highway 45 in Mobile County, Alabama. It is not clear at this time if charges will be pursued, and authorities are still investigating the collision.*

The accident happened early in the morning, close to Chunchula-Georgetown Road on U.S. 45 in the Chunchula community. The Alabama Law Enforcement Agency and Fox 10 report that at about 6:30 a.m., a pedestrian was walking south on the highway, when he was struck by a southbound vehicle. The vehicle was said to be a 2001 Ford F-350 pickup truck. 

It is not clear how the accident happened. The report did not say whether the pedestrian was walking in the shoulder of the highway or inside a southbound lane. The conditions of the roadway at the time of the accident were not described. Authorities responding to the scene did not report on factors that they might be investigating in connection with the collision. 

Fox 10 reports that the pedestrian tragically died at the scene of the accident. Alabama State Troopers identified the victim as a 38-year-old man from Norcross, Georgia. It is not clear where he was headed at the time of the accident or why he was walking on the highway. 

Fox 10 identified the driver of the Ford pickup as a 31-year-old man from Chunchula. He was not injured in the collision, according to the news report and State Troopers. It is unclear if any passengers were in the truck with him.

The Alabama Law Enforcement Agency is still completing its investigation of the accident. Troopers have not yet said if charges are likely to be filed in the case.
