Worker Tragically Killed in Accident at Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport

ATLANTA, GA. – According to an online news report posted at, a worker was tragically killed in an accident that occurred at Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport in Atlanta, Georgia. The details of the incident have not yet been fully reported, and investigators are currently looking into what happened.* 

The accident appears to have happened while the worker was guiding a baggage vehicle to an airplane parked at a gate. It is not clear if the airplane had just arrived at the airport or was about to depart. The report says it was a United Airlines plane. As the worker was guiding the vehicle to the plane, the vehicle somehow ran into him and pinned him against the plane. 

It is not clear how this occurred or what events might have led to the incident. WSB-TV reports that the victim was transported to Grady Memorial Hospital, where he tragically died of his injuries. No identifying information about him was included in the report. The person operating the luggage vehicle was also not identified. 

WSB-TV reports that the victim worked as a contractor for G2 Secure Staff, LLC. G2 Secure Staff released a public statement following the accident, in which the company’s president and CEO said that he had “no words to express the depth of sadness we feel.” The statement also said the company was focusing on supporting the victim’s family and the victim’s co-workers in this time of tragedy. 

United Airlines likewise released a statement, saying that the airline was extending its thoughts to the victim’s family and was investigating the incident to find out how it happened. The airline went on to say that it was committed to ensuring a similar incident did not occur in the future. 

The news report indicates that the Occupational Safety and Health Administration will be investigating.
