Two Injured in Single-Vehicle Wreck on I-24 in Chattanooga, Tennessee

CHATTANOOGA, TN. – According to an online news story reported at, two people were injured in a single-vehicle wreck that happened on Interstate 24 in Chattanooga, Tennessee. The details of the accident are not completely clear, but authorities believe it might have been related to weather.*

The accident happened near Exit 183A on the westbound side of I-24. The Chattanooga Police Department and News Channel 9 report that a vehicle was traveling west on the interstate, when the driver somehow lost control. The vehicle ended up rotating around and coming to a stop facing east in the left-hand shoulder of I-24 West. Authorities were not certain what caused the accident but said it likely was influenced by rainy conditions on the interstate.

The make and model of the vehicle was not reported, but photos taken at the scene and posted to the News Channel 9 website show that it was a silver Chevrolet SUV. The model of the SUV cannot be discerned. Little damage to the vehicle is visible in the photo, though the SUV might have damage to the front passenger’s side. It is not clear if the vehicle collided with the median barrier or just spun out of control. 

News Channel 9 reports that four people were riding in the vehicle when the accident took place, including two men and two women. One of the men and one of the women were injured in the incident, and emergency crews took them to a local hospital for treatment. They were not identified in the news report, and the seriousness of their injuries was not clear. The report did not say if the driver of the vehicle was one of the injured persons. 

The Chattanooga Police Department is still investigating, and officers have not yet released further information.
