Wife of Shark Tank Star Charged for Causing a Boat Crash
TORONTO, CANADA – According to an online news report at wsbradio.com, the wife of Shark Tank star Kevin O’Leary is facing charges for the careless operation of a vessel that resulted in a fatality.*
The wife of Kevin O’Leary , a 56-year-old from Toronto, Canada, is scheduled to be in court in late October, per the Ontario Provincial Police. Two boats crashed into one another on Lake Joseph close to Seguin, Ontario where a 64-year-old man and a 48-year-old woman, a mother of three, sustained injuries.
Kevin O’Leary, following the accident, indicates that he was not piloting the boat at the time of the accident. His wife is being charged with the careless operation of a vessel.
Another boater, a 67-year-old man from Orchard Park, New York was also charged with failing to exhibit navigation lights while underway. He was the operator of the other boat involved in the accident with Kevin O’Leary’s wife. According to Kevin O’Leary, "[s]he has always been a cautious and experienced boater who came into collision with an unlit craft on a dark and moonless night. The other boat was sitting in a dark spot on a lake, no cottage lights nearby, no moon."
The attorney for O’Leary indicates that the maximum penalty is not eight months in prison or a $1 million fine. He notes that it is a $10,000 fine.
