Pedestrian Tragically Dies in Accident on Campbellton Road in Atlanta, Georgia

ATLANTA, GA. – According to a news story published online at, a pedestrian was tragically died in an accident that took place on Campbellton Road Southwest in Atlanta, Georgia. Police have released little information about the accident at this time, as they are still in the preliminary stages of their investigation.*

The accident happened in the late evening in the 3700 block of Campbellton Road. The Atlanta Police Department and Fox 5 report that around 10 p.m., officers were called to the scene on a report of a pedestrian-involved traffic collision. They went to the site of the accident and found that a person had been hit by a vehicle. The driver of the vehicle was still at the scene when police arrived, according to the report.

It is not clear how the accident occurred. The news report does not say where the pedestrian had been walking before the crash. It is unclear if he or she was trying to cross the roadway, was walking along the side of the road, or was walking inside a lane of travel. The directions that the pedestrian and the vehicle were headed were not reported. The make and model of the vehicle were also not reported. 

Fox 5 states that the pedestrian tragically died in the accident. Emergency responders pronounced the victim dead at the scene. No identifying information about the victim was provided in the news report. 

No information about the driver of the vehicle was provided, either. It is not clear whether the driver was injured or if he or she was the only person inside the vehicle when the accident took place. 

The Atlanta Police Department is still in the process of investigating the accident. At the time of the Fox 5 report’s posting, officers had not said whether charges were expected.
