Woman Fatally Hit After Having Car Trouble in Durham, North Carolina

DURHAM, NC. – According to a news report posted online at, a woman was fatally hit by a vehicle after experiencing car trouble in Durham, North Carolina. The woman reportedly got out of her vehicle to check on the problem, when she was hit on the roadway. The news report indicates that the other driver is facing criminal charges for the accident.* 

The incident occurred sometime during the morning in Durham. The street name where the accident took place was not named in the report. The Durham Police Department and WSOC report that a woman was traveling in an SUV on an unknown roadway, when her SUV broke down. The cause of the woman’s car trouble is not known, and the make and model of her SUV were not reported. 

Police officers say that the woman exited her vehicle and went to the front to investigate the problem. As she was standing outside of her car, another vehicle traveling on the roadway rear-ended her SUV. The make and model of the second vehicle were not reported. The impact of the crash forced the woman’s vehicle into her, according to police. 

WSOC reports that the woman was critically injured in the collision and tragically died at the scene. She was identified as a 35-year-old woman. Her hometown was not provided in the news report. 

WSOC further reports that the driver of the second vehicle was injured, though it is not clear if he was taken to a hospital for treatment. He was identified as a 48-year-old man. His city of residence was also not reported. 

According to WSOC, authorities have charged the second driver with several crimes, including driving while impaired, displaying a revoked license tag, and driving without automobile insurance. No additional information about this accident was included in the report.
