Hall County Woman Tragically Dies in Dawson County, Georgia Accident

DAWSON COUNTY, GA – According to an online news report at, a woman from Hall County tragically perished in a vehicular accident close to Dawsonville, Georgia.*

The woman, aged 20, from Lula, Georgia, was riding as a passenger of a vehicle that was involved in an accident in Dawsonville.  The young woman perished after being transported to a hospital in Gainesville, Georgia.  Another individual, a 21-year-old passenger was taken to an area hospital and is listed as in critical condition.  It appears that alcohol was a factor in causing the accident.  


Right around midnight, a 21-year-old woman from Dawsonville was operating a 2004 Mazda 6 on Grant Ford Drive, per the Georgia State Patrol.  The woman was wearing her seatbelt at the time of the accident. According to a preliminary investigation, the woman drove off of the road at an excessive rate of speed, causing the vehicle to slam into several trees and flip over.

The four passengers in the back of the vehicle were not properly restrained, per a news release by the Georgia State Patrol This caused a 21-year-old male and a 20-year-old woman to be ejected from the automobile. 

The 21-year-old was taken by medical helicopter to a local hospital where he remains in critical condition.  The 20-year-old woman was also taken to an area hospital via medical helicopter. She later perished from the extent of her injuries.  

Two other passengers in the vehicle sustained injuries and were transported to an area hospital via ambulance.  The driver was injured and later take to the Dawson County Detention Center.

The driver is facing several charges: first-degree vehicular homicide, reckless driving, DUI, serious injury by vehicle, driving too fast for conditions and failure to maintain lane.

There are no further details on the accident at this time.  The condition of the two additional passengers is not known.  The accident remains under investigation.
