Man Tragically Killed in Jet Ski Accident on Tybee Island, Georgia

TYBEE ISLAND, GA. – According to an online news report published by, a man was tragically killed in a jet ski accident that happened on Tybee Island, Georgia. The circumstances surrounding the accident have not been fully reported at this time, and the cause of the accident is not clear. Authorities are still investigating.*

The incident happened in an unknown area of Tybee Island. Information about the location of the accident was not included in the report. The Georgia Department of Natural Resources and WSAV report that a man was riding on a jet ski as part of a jet ski tour and somehow fell off the watercraft. It is not clear if the man fell off because the jet ski ran into something or if he fell for another reason. 

The report indicates that after the man fell into the water, he was struggling to get back onto the jet ski and then lost consciousness. The events leading to and surrounding the incident are not clear. It appears the company that rented the jet ski to the man transported him back to the marina. The name of this company was not included in the report. No information about the jet ski tour was included in the report, either. 

WSAV reports that the man tragically died in the incident. He was identified as a 33-year-old resident of South Carolina. It is not clear if he was taking the jet ski tour with other people or was alone. No one else potentially involved in the incident was identified, and no other injuries were reported. 

The Law Enforcement Division of the Georgia Department of Natural Resources is investigating the accident. No further information about the incident or the investigation was included in the report from WSAV.
