Police Arrest Suspect in Connection with Barrow County Hit-and-Run
BARROW COUNTY, GA – According to an online news report at fox5atlanta.com, police have arrested a suspect in connection with a hit-and-run accident in Barrow County.*
Police arrested a hit-and-run suspect that caused one man to be hospitalized. The local sheriff’s office indicated that the outcome would have been much worse had it not been for the efforts of a Good Samaritan. There was debris in the roadway that the Good Samaritan struck on Highway 316 in Barrow County close to Barber Creek Road. It caused damage to his vehicle. As he stopped to check his car, he noticed something odd in the woods next to the road.
When he exited his vehicle, he noticed a vehicle that was overturned. According to the Good Samaritan, he witnessed a male in his 20s crawl out of his wrecked Jeep who was bloody and had obvious injuries. When the Good Samaritan got to the victim, the victim kept asking for help. "And I kept asking what happened? ‘What happened?' and he said ‘I don't know, I don't know,'" said the Good Samaritan. At this point, he called 911 where emergency personnel transported the victim to an area hospital.
The victim’s injuries were serious and had the Good Samaritan not found him, he may have died. The local sheriff’s office indicated to reporters that the victim has a long road to recovery. "Getting emergency personnel there especially EMT's that could stabilize him was definitely a good factor," said a sheriff.
According to a preliminary report, it appeared that the accident was a hit-and-run involving a 2001 to 2004 Ford Escape. Ultimately, a 22-year-old male turned himself into the authorities for his connection in the crash. The man faces felony hit-and-run charges, failure to report a crash, and additional charges for causing bodily harm.
