Motorcyclist Tragically Dies After Collision with Car on Holley Rd. in Lizella, Georgia

LIZELLA, GA. – According to an online news story reported at, a motorcyclist tragically died following a collision with a car that occurred on Holley Road in Lizella, Georgia. Investigation is ongoing, but authorities report that charges have now been filed in the case against the driver of the car.*

The accident happened at the crossing of Holley Road with South Lizella Road in Lizella. The Bibb County Sheriff’s Office and 13 WMAZ report that a 2018 Kawasaki ZX1000 motorcycle was traveling westbound on Holley Road, while a 2005 Nissan Maxima was headed east on the same roadway.

At the intersection with South Lizella, deputies say the driver of the Nissan attempted to turn left and drove into the path of the westbound motorcycle. The two vehicles then crashed into each other. It is still not clear why the driver of the Nissan turned while the motorcycle was oncoming. No information about the events influencing the crash was reported. 

13 WMAZ reports that the motorcyclist was seriously injured and taken to a hospital, where he later tragically died. The Bibb County Coroner’s Office identified the victim as a 26-year-old man. His hometown was not reported.

The driver of the Nissan was identified as a 35-year-old man from Knoxville. It is not clear from the report if he or the passenger in his car, identified as his wife, were injured in the collision. 13 WMAZ states that Bibb County investigators have announced that the Nissan driver has been charged with vehicular homicide and failure to yield. At the time of the report’s publishing online, he had not yet been placed under arrest. 

Bibb County officials are still investigating the fatal accident, and no further information has been released about the case at this time.
