Suspected Drunk Driving Crash Reported on Oslo Rd. in Indian River County, Florida

September 17, 2019

INDIAN RIVER COUNTY, FL. – According to a news report posted online at, a suspected drunk driving crash was reported to have happened on Oslo Road in Indian River County, Florida. The news report says that officers arrested a woman in connection with the accident.*

The accident occurred in the evening at the intersection of 27th Avenue and Oslo Road. The Indian River County Sheriff’s Office and TC Palm report that around 8:30 p.m., authorities were called to the 5800 block of Oslo Road on a report of a vehicle on fire. They arrived to find that a Kia sedan was broken down after having apparently been in an accident.

Deputies reportedly found a woman sitting in the driver’s seat of the Kia, and a juvenile was walking down Oslo Road, away from the vehicle. Preliminary investigation revealed that the Kia had crashed into the back of a 2008 Scion XD at the intersection with 27th Avenue, and the driver left the scene.

The driver of the Kia, who was identified as a 45-year-old woman from Vero Beach, Florida, reportedly blamed the accident on medication she was taking, then admitted to deputies that she had been drinking. She said the child riding with her was trying to get out of the car, and she was trying to pull him back in, and that’s when the accident happened.

According to TC Palm, the child told deputies that the woman had consumed a whole bottle of alcohol before driving. Both the woman and the child, age ten, were taken to Cleveland Clinic Indian River Hospital, but it is not clear if they were injured. It is also not clear if anyone in the Scion was injured.

TC Palm states that the woman has been charged with several crimes, including driving under the influence.
