Maryland Man Tragically Dies in Crash in Olney, Maryland

September 12, 2019

OLNEY, MD. — WJLA ABC 7 has reported that a man succumbed to his injuries at the scene of a violent auto collision involving multiple vehicles in Olney. The crash occurred on a Friday night on Georgia Avenue near the intersection with Maryland State Road 200, also known as the Inter-County Connector, or ICC. A total of five cars were involved in the crash which killed one person and hospitalized another. No one riding in any of the other vehicles sustained any injuries. Law enforcement authorities continue to examine the evidence and have the accident under investigation. They did not indicate whether any charges would be filed against any of the motorists involved. *

The initial reports from first responders assigned to render aid at the crash suggest that a man driving a 2014 Infinity Q50S heading northerly on Georgia Avenue struck a 2009 Honda Civic that was traveling south on Georgia Avenue. The collision happened when the operator of the 2009 Honda Civic attempted to turn left in front of the Infinity. The driver of the Honda was navigating toward the eastbound entrance to the ICC at the time of the crash with the Civic. The Infinity rebounded off of the Honda and hit a 2004 Ford Explorer that was also heading north on Georgia Avenue. The Honda Civic collided with a 2018 Dodge Challenger traveling on the northbound side of Georgia Avenue as well.

The driver of the 2009 Honda Civic perished in the crash. Authorities did not identify the man immediately and would not do so until authorities notified the man’s next of kin. A 25-year-old female was a front-seat passenger in the Infinity and sustained injuries in the crash. Medics transported her to a local hospital suffering from serious, albeit non-life-threatening, injuries. None of the other motorists sustained any injuries in the crash.
