Wrong Way Driver Arrested After Fleeing Scene of Accident on State Road 56 in Pasco County, Florida
PASCO COUNTY, FL – According to an online news report at tbreporter.com, a man from Land O’Lakes, Florida was arrested after he fled the scene of an accident that occurred on State Road 56. The man, aged 41, from Land O’Lakes, Florida, is facing charges of one count of reckless driving and another for leaving the scene of an accident with property damage. Both infractions are misdemeanors. It appears that alcohol was not a factor in the accident, per the Florida Highway Patrol. There were no injuries that were reported in the accident. *
The accident occurred late last week on State Road SR 56 westbound in Mansfield Boulevard in Pasco County, Florida. According to troopers, the suspect was operating a 2014 Toyota Corolla west in the inside easterly lane of State Route 56. The Toyota was traveling directly at a 2017 Honda Civic that was traveling eastbound on the roadway. As the cars came upon each other, the Honda swerved to avoid a crash with the Toyota. However, when the Honda swerved, it slammed into a 2010 Chevrolet Impala that was going eastbound on State Route 56. The Toyota, as a result of the accident, crossed over the median and fled the scene of the accident in the westerly lanes of State Route 56, per troopers with the Florida Highway Patrol.
There are no further details on the accident at this time. The crash remains under investigation by the local police.
