Pedestrian Injured in Hit-and-Run at Kmart in Raleigh, North Carolina

RALEIGH, NC. – According to a news story posted online by, a pedestrian was injured in a hit-and-run collision that occurred in the parking lot of a Kmart in Raleigh, North Carolina. The news story indicates that police officers located a vehicle they believed to have been involved in the crash a few hours after the accident.*

The collision happened in the evening in the parking lot of the Kmart on Western Boulevard in Raleigh. The Raleigh Police Department and CBS 17 report that around 7:30 p.m., emergency responders were called to the scene at 4500 Western Boulevard regarding a traffic collision. Authorities found when they arrived at the scene that a person had apparently been struck by a vehicle.

Officers said that the vehicle involved in the accident was not still present at the scene when they responded. No one from the vehicle had remained at the scene, either. The circumstances of the collision were unknown to authorities at the time of the CBS 17 report. It is not clear if anyone witnessed the accident. 

CBS 17 reports that the pedestrian was injured and transported by ambulance to a local hospital for emergency care. The victim was not identified in the report. The extent of his or her injuries was not known, nor was a current medical status for the victim. 

The driver of the vehicle was also not identified in the report, and the vehicle was not described. However, the report says that close to three hours after the accident, police located a vehicle that appeared to have been involved in the collision. Officers were reportedly talking to the occupants of the vehicle. It is not clear how many people were riding in the vehicle. 

No arrests have yet been made in the case, and the accident remains under investigation.
