Child Tragically Killed in Head-On Car Crash on Norwood Ave. in Jacksonville, Florida

JACKSONVILLE, FL. – According to a news story reported online at, a child was tragically killed in a head-on car crash that happened on Norwood Avenue in Jacksonville, Florida. The child has not been identified at this time, and the cause of the accident has not been determined by investigators.*

The accident happened somewhere between the 6300 block and the 6700 block of Norwood Avenue, near Calvert Street. The Jacksonville Police Department and Action News Jax report that emergency responders were called to the scene of a vehicle wreck in this area and arrived to discover that one of the vehicles involved had rolled over. Two vehicles were reportedly involved in the wreck, but vehicle descriptions were not reported.

It appeared to authorities that the crash had happened in a head-on fashion. They believe that one of the cars was trying to pass someone in a no-passing zone and ended up crashing into the second vehicle on the wrong side of the road. The events leading up to the accident and factors potentially playing a role in the accident were not fully reported. 

Action News Jax says that a child riding in the car that rolled was tragically dead when they arrived. The child’s age and other identifying information were not reported. In addition, the report says that rescuers had to pull another person from this vehicle. This person was also not identified and was reportedly transported to a hospital with serious injuries. 

Action News Jax also reports that three other unidentified people who were involved in the accident were injured. It is not clear if they required treatment beyond the scene. 

Police officers are still in the process of completing their investigation in this case. Officers have not said whether they anticipate charges in connection with the wreck.
