Three-Vehicle Wreck on S.R. 54 in Pasco County, Florida, Results in One Fatality
PASCO COUNTY, FL. – According to a news story reported online at tbreporter.com, a three-vehicle wreck that happened on State Road 54 in Pasco County, Florida, resulted in one fatality. Based on preliminary investigation performed by Florida Highway Patrol, it appears the accident began with a failure to yield during a left turn.*
The accident happened during the late evening at the intersection of State Road 54 with Trinity Boulevard. Florida Highway Patrol and the Tampa Bay Reporter state that shortly before 9 p.m., a 2006 Ford sedan (model not reported) was headed west on State Road 54 and attempted to turn left onto Trinity Boulevard.
Troopers say that in the course of turning, the Ford crossed into the path of a 2008 Buick Lucerne that had been traveling east on the roadway in the center lane. The two vehicles ended up colliding, after which the Ford rotated and crashed into a 2019 Toyota Camry that was sitting at a red light on Trinity Boulevard.
The Tampa Bay Reporter says that a passenger inside the Ford was ambulanced from the site of the crash to Regional Medical Center at Bayonet Point, where he tragically died of his injuries. The news report identified the victim as a 74-year-old man from Palm Harbor, Florida.
The Tampa Bay Reporter states that the drivers of the vehicles were not taken anywhere for treatment beyond the scene. The driver of the Ford was identified as a 71-year-old man from New Port Richey, Florida. The other two drivers were not identified. No other passengers, if any, were identified in the news report, either.
Florida Highway Patrol is still investigating the crash, and Troopers had not released further information at the time of the news report. It is not yet clear if charges will be pursued in the case.
