Woman Tragically Killed in Vehicle Accident in Rockford, Illinois
ROCKFORD, IL. – According to a news story reported online at mystateline.com, a woman was tragically killed in a vehicle accident that happened in Rockford, Illinois. Authorities are still in the course of investigating the crash, and the identity of the victim has not been released at this time, according to the report.*
The accident happened in the evening at the intersection of Broadway and Eastmoreland in Rockford. The Rockford Police Department and WTVO report that at approximately 6 p.m., a vehicle was headed west in the area, while another vehicle was headed east. The makes and models of the two vehicles were not provided in the report. Near the intersection, the westbound vehicle somehow crossed over the centerline.
In moving into eastbound traffic, the westbound vehicle ended up crashing into the eastbound vehicle, according to the report. It is not clear at this time why the westbound vehicle left its lane of travel or why the driver entered the path of oncoming traffic. None of the events potentially leading to the crash were reported in the news story.
WTVO reports that the driver of the westbound vehicle was transported by emergency crews to a nearby hospital, where she tragically died. She was identified as a 54-year-old woman. No other information about her was reported.
In addition, WTVO reports that a juvenile passenger in the westbound vehicle was injured and taken to a hospital. He was identified as being 15 years old and is said to have sustained non-life threatening injuries. The driver of the eastbound vehicle, identified as a 37-year-old man, was also injured and taken to a hospital, according to the news report. His injuries were also said to be non-life threatening.
