Two Tragically Killed in Fiery Car Crash on I-95 in Miami-Dade County, Florida
MIAMI-DADE COUNTY, FL. – According to a news report posted online at local10.com, two people were tragically killed in a fiery car crash that happened on Interstate 95 in Miami-Dade County, Florida. The victims have not been identified at this time, and Florida Highway Patrol is still investigating.*
The collision occurred near Northwest 95 Street on I-95 North. Florida Highway Patrol and Local 10 report that a Chevrolet SUV of unknown model was traveling north on the interstate and attempted to change into the express lanes. In attempting the lane change, the Chevy reportedly collided with a BMW sedan of unknown model that had been headed north in the express lanes.
The report says the front of the BMW crashed into the driver’s side of the Chevy. After the initial impact, the Chevy rolled and came to a stop upside down. The Chevy then caught on fire. It is not clear from the report what led to the crash, as investigators did not immediately provide information about the circumstances involved.
Local 10 reports that the driver of the Chevy and a passenger in the Chevy were trapped in the vehicle after the crash, and both tragically died from their injuries. The driver was identified only as a male, and the passenger was identified only as a female. No other information about the two was reported.
The driver of the BMW, who was also not identified, was reportedly injured and taken to Jackson Memorial Hospital. He or she was still hospitalized at the time of the news report’s posting.
Florida Highway Patrol is handling the case investigation. Troopers said that a second crash occurred in the same area that was related somehow to the first, but details about this crash were not reported. No further information was contained in the news report.
