Four Injured in Single-Vehicle Crash on Julia Tuttle Expressway in Miami, Florida
MIAMI, FL. – According to an online news report posted at local10.com, four people were injured in a single-vehicle crash that occurred on the Julia Tuttle Expressway in Miami, Florida. The report indicates that three of the injured people were children. The cause of the accident is still being investigated by Florida Highway Patrol.*
The accident happened during the late afternoon, close to the ramp to Biscayne Boulevard on the Julia Tuttle Expressway. Florida Highway Patrol and Local 10 report that around 3:45 p.m., an SUV that had been traveling on the expressway somehow veered off the roadway. The make and model of the SUV were not reported, and the direction the SUV had been traveling was also not included in the report.
Authorities arrived to find that the SUV was resting partway on the guardrail. Troopers said that the driver had somehow lost control of the vehicle, after which the SUV rolled and crashed into the guardrail. It is not clear at this time what events led to the collision. Troopers indicated that no other vehicles were involved in the accident. They did not say what factors might have contributed to the crash.
Local 10 reports that the driver of the SUV and three juvenile passengers in the SUV were injured and taken to Jackson Memorial Hospital for treatment. No identifying information on the victims was reported. Their injuries are said to be non-life threatening, according to the news report.
Florida Highway Patrol will be handling the investigation of the wreck. At the time at that the report for Local 10 was posted online, no further information about the accident was available. It is not clear if the driver of the SUV did or will receive a citation in connection with the collision.
