Motorcycle Accident on N. Atlantic Ave. in Cocoa Beach, Florida, Ends in Fatality

COCOA BEACH, FL. – According to a news report published online at, a motorcycle accident that happened on N. Atlantic Avenue in Cocoa Beach, Florida, ended in a fatality. It appears the motorcycle collided with a car that was making a left turn, and the driver of the car was also injured.* 

The accident occurred during the late morning in the 3300 block of N. Atlantic Avenue, which is also State Road A1A. The Cocoa Beach Police Department and Space Coast Daily report that shortly before noon, a 2018 Suzuki motorcycle was traveling south on the roadway, while a 2015 Volkswagen Jetta was traveling north on the same road. 

In front of the First United Methodist Church, the driver of the Volkswagen attempted to turn left, and it appears the vehicle pulled into the path of the southbound motorcycle. The two vehicles ended up crashing into each other. The report says that the front of the motorcycle struck the passenger’s side of the Volkswagen. 

Space Coast Daily reports that the motorcyclist was injured in the collision and taken to a nearby hospital, where he tragically died. The news report identified him as a 49-year-old man from Melbourne, Florida. It appears he did not have any passengers riding on the bike with him when the accident took place. 

Space Coast Daily further reports that the driver of the Volkswagen was injured in the accident and taken to a local hospital. She was identified as a 70-year-old woman from Connecticut. Her injuries were said to be non-life threatening. It does not appear that anyone else was riding in the car with her at the time of the accident. 

The Cocoa Beach Police Department is investigating and asks anyone with information to contact officers at (321) 868-3251.
