Police Investigating Fatal Pedestrian Accident on Parkway Dr. in Melbourne, Florida

MELBOURNE, FL. – According to an online news report posted at, police officers are investigating a fatal pedestrian accident that happened on Parkway Drive in Melbourne, Florida. The victim has not been identified, and the driver is reportedly cooperating with the police investigation. It is unclear if charges will be filed.* 

The accident happened late in the evening near Parkway Drive and North Harbor City Boulevard. The Melbourne Police Department and Space Coast Daily report that at about 9:30 p.m., a pedestrian was walking in the area and was somehow struck by a passing vehicle. The vehicle was described as a 2016 Toyota Rav4.

It is not clear at this time where the pedestrian was walking in relation to the lanes of travel. The report does not say if he was walking inside the roadway, along the side of the road, or attempting to cross the roadway. The events leading up to the collision and the circumstances surrounding the accident have not been reported at this time. 

When authorities responded to the scene, the pedestrian was seriously injured, according to the report. Space Coast Daily states that emergency crews transported the victim to Holmes Regional Medical Center, and he tragically died from his injuries at the hospital. He was identified as a male, but no other information about him was reported. The news story states that next-of-kin had not been notified of the accident.

The driver of the Toyota was also not identified. It appears this person stayed at the scene, as the report says the driver has been cooperating with the investigation. The investigation is still ongoing, and police officers are asking witnesses to the crash to contact them with any information they can provide. No further details about the accident were included in the report.
