Motorcyclist Tragically Killed in Accident in Warren, Ohio

WARREN, OH. – According to a news report posted online at, a motorcyclist was tragically killed in an accident that happened in Warren, Ohio. Police are still investigating the crash and have determined preliminarily that they think speeding contributed to the accident. Officials have identified the victim.*

The accident happened during the overnight hours on West Market Street, near Main Avenue in downtown Warren. The Warren Police Department and The Vindicator report that at approximately 2 a.m., a motorcycle was traveling west on West Market Street and came to a curve in the roadway by Thumm’s Bike & Clock Shop. The make and model of the motorcycle were not listed in the report.

Officers say that when the motorcyclist entered the curve, he lost control. It is not completely clear what led to the loss of control. However, police officers believe after investigating the case that speeding was a factor. Officers believe that the motorcyclist entered the curve at too high a speed and could not negotiate the turn. No other vehicles were involved in the accident except the motorcycle. 

The Vindicator reports that the motorcyclist was tragically killed in the accident. He was identified as a 36-year-old man from Warren. The report did not say whether anyone was riding on the motorcycle with the victim at the time of the accident. 

The Warren Police Department is still investigating the wreck. At the time that the news report from The Vindicator was posted online, no further information regarding the crash or the case investigation had been released to the media.  

According to the Insurance Information Institute, in 2016, close to 5,300 people were killed in motorcycle accidents in the United States. The number of fatalities that year represented an increase of more than five percent from 2015.
