Union Pacific Worker Tragically Killed in Accident in Beaumont, Texas

BEAUMONT, TX. – According to an online news report posted at ncadvertiser.com, a Union Pacific worker was tragically killed in an accident that happened in Beaumont, Texas. Few details about the accident have been released at this time, and local authorities are performing an investigation to try to determine the cause of the incident.*

The accident happened during the early morning near a chemical plant in Beaumont. The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office and the New Canaan Advertiser report that sometime before sunrise, a man was working by some railway tanker cars and somehow became pinned between two of the cars. It is not clear how the accident took place. The news report did not give any information about the situation surrounding the incident or what events might have contributed to the accident.

The New Canaan Advertiser reports that the worker was tragically killed in the accident. He was identified as a 39-year-old man from Louisiana. The report says he was pronounced dead at the scene. It is not clear if other people were working around him at the time or if he was alone. The report did not say who alerted authorities to the accident. 

A spokesperson for Union Pacific, Kristen South, confirmed that the victim worked for Union Pacific and said that he had been employed with the company for more than 15 years. He was currently part of the company’s service unit for the Gulf Coast, the spokesperson said. 

An investigation is underway regarding the accident, and sparse information has been released. The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office is investigating, but it is not clear if the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) will also investigate the accident. No information about the status of the investigation was reported.
