13 People Injured in Charter Bus Crash on I-85 in Charlotte, North Carolina

CHARLOTTE, NC. – According to an online news story reported at, 13 people were injured in a charter bus crash that occurred on Interstate 85 in Charlotte, North Carolina. Multiple other vehicles were involved in the accident, according to the report, but little information about the nature of the crash has yet been reported to the media.*

The accident occurred during the morning by Graham Street and the exit to Sugar Creek Road on the southbound side of I-85. Officials say that the crash happened around 7 a.m., and several vehicles were involved, including a charter bus. The report says that the crash occurred in a chain-reaction series of events, but it does not describe any of the events that set the crash into motion.

WBTV states that the charter bus was coming from New York, but it did not say where the bus was headed or how many people were on the bus at the time of the collision. Descriptions of the other vehicles involved in the accident were not provided in the news report. It is not clear how many vehicles in total collided on the interstate.

WBTV reports that 13 people were injured in the accident. All 13 of those people were taken to hospitals for medical treatment. One person’s injuries were said to be serious. The report does not identify any of the injured persons and does not say how many people were involved in the crash. 

The collision caused much of I-85 South to be blocked while crews worked at the scene. Significant traffic delays resulted from the lane closures. Authorities are still investigating the wreck, and no further information about the accident was included in the WBTV news report. It is not clear whether anyone will be charged or cited in connection with the vehicle crash.
