Vehicle Crash on Fort Howard Road in Rincon, Georgia, Injures One
RINCON, GA. – According to a news report published online at wtoc.com, a vehicle crash on Fort Howard Road in Rincon, Georgia, left one person with injuries. The crash is said to have involved two vehicles, and preliminary investigation suggests that one of the drivers missed a stop sign at an intersection, leading to the crash.*
It is not clear what time the accident happened, but authorities say it took place at the intersection of Fort Howard Road and Old Augusta Road. Georgia State Patrol and WTOC report that one vehicle was traveling south on Old Augusta, while another vehicle was preparing to turn onto Old Augusta Road from Fort Howard Road.
At the intersection, Troopers say one of the drivers failed to stop at a stop sign. It is not clear which of the drivers missed the stop sign. The makes and models of the two vehicles were not reported, and it is not clear what direction the second vehicle had been traveling before attempting to turn. Troopers do not yet know why the at-fault driver did not stop. No factors potentially playing a role in the accident were reported.
WTOC reports that one person was injured in the accident, and this person had to be airlifted from the scene to Savannah, Georgia, for medical treatment. The person was not identified, and it is not clear what vehicle he or she had been traveling in at the time of the accident. The report did not say whether the victim was a driver or a passenger.
No additional injuries stemming from the accident were reported by WTOC. No one else involved in the accident was identified.
Georgia State Patrol is still investigating the wreck. It is not clear if one of the drivers was cited at the scene or if charges are anticipated.
