Motor Vehicle Accident in Rising Fawn, Georgia, Results in Fatality

RISING FAWN, GA. – According to a news report posted at, an accident that happened in Rising Fawn, Georgia, resulted in a fatality. The accident reportedly happened on Interstate 59 and caused the tragic death of the driver of the vehicle. Authorities are still investigating to try to determine the cause of the crash.*

The accident happened during an afternoon, near the exit to Sulfur Springs on Interstate 59. The Dade County Sheriff’s Office and WDEF report that a semi-truck was headed northbound on the interstate and somehow became involved in a crash. The nature of the crash and the circumstances leading to it were not included in the report. 

It is not clear if the semi-truck left the roadway or if it crashed on the roadway. The report did not say what type of materials, if any, that the semi-truck was hauling at the time of the collision or if any debris was spilled onto the roadway following the accident. The cause of the accident has not yet been determined. It does not appear that any other vehicles were involved in the crash.

WDEF reports that the driver of the semi-truck tragically died in the accident. He was not named in the report, and no identifying information about him was provided. The report did not say whether anyone else had been riding in the semi-truck when it crashed. 

The accident caused all of the northbound lanes on I-59 to shut down while crews investigated and cleared the area. The closure started at Sulfur Springs, and traffic was rerouted at this point. Officials urged drivers to try to avoid the area. 

Local authorities are still in the process of investigating the semi-truck accident. No further information had been released to reporters at the time that the WDEF news story was posted online.
