August 26, 2019

DADE COUNTY, GA. – According to a news report posted at, a trucker was tragically killed in a vehicle accident that happened on Interstate 59 in Dade County, Georgia. The truck driver reportedly ran his rig off the road and crashed. At this time, authorities are not sure what caused the collision.*

The accident happened sometime during the afternoon on the northbound side of Interstate 59 in Rising Fawn, Georgia. The Dade County Sheriff’s Office and News Channel 9 report that a tractor-trailer was traveling north on the interstate and somehow left the roadway. The truck then reportedly crashed over a guardrail and overturned in a ditch. Following the collision, the tractor-trailer burst into flames.

The cause of the accident is not yet known. A witness at the scene told reporters that the tractor-trailer wobbled, then struck the guardrail. The witness said the vehicle then was briefly airborne and flipped before crashing into the ground. Authorities do not yet know what caused the driver to lose control or why the tractor-trailer left the road.

News Channel 9 reports that the driver of the tractor-trailer was tragically killed in the crash. He was identified only as a male. No other identifying information about the victim was included in the news report. It does not appear that anyone else was inside of the tractor-trailer when it crashed.

Several agencies responded to the scene, including firefighters called to put out the vehicle fire. The trailer was reportedly hauling frozen broccoli at the time, so hazardous materials were not involved in the incident. Dade County deputies and State Troopers were at the scene, as well. Georgia State Patrol will be handling the accident investigation, according to the report, and Troopers had not released further information at the time that the News Channel 9 report was posted online.
