Five People Injured When Dump Truck Crashes into a Local Sandwich Shop
SEATTLE, WA – According to an online news report at sun-sentinel.com, a dump truck heading in a westerly direction on Yesler Way lost control and caused damage to other vehicles right before slamming into a Subway restaurant earlier this week. The crash caused injuries to multiple individuals. The truck appeared to have “allegedly suffered a catastrophic mechanical failure.”*
A dump truck slammed into a pedestrian, other vehicles and a Subway restaurant located in Seattle’s historic Pioneer Square district, which caused injuries to 5 individuals.
Four of the individuals sustained serious injuries and were transported to a local hospital for treatment. The Seattle Fire Department indicates that the accident occurred earlier this week in the morning hours. As of earlier this week, a 25-year-old is listed as in serious condition, and three others aged 33, 44, and 51 were listed as in satisfactory condition, per a hospital spokesperson.
Seattle Police indicate that the truck "allegedly suffered a catastrophic mechanical failure." The dump truck plowed into the Subway restaurant and shattered the glass in the front of the shop.
There are no further details on the accident. The crash is being investigated by the local police.
