PENSACOLA, FL – According to an online news report at,two male drivers from Pensacola sustained critical injuries following a head-on collision on the Blue Angel Parkway close to United States Highway 98.*

One of the drivers is a 33-year-old male from Pensacola.  He was driving a Buick Enclave going northbound on the Blue Angel Parkway and approaching United States Highway 98.  For unknown reasons, the man veered from the northbound lane into the opposite side of traffic, per the Florida Highway Patrol.  The front of the man’s vehicle collided with a Subaru Legacy operated by a 30-year-old man.  Both of the drivers sustained serious injuries as a result of the crash.

When the front end of an automobile crashes into the front end of another automobile, this incident is called a head-on collision. These types of crashes account for roughly 2% of all accidents.  About 10% of head-on collisions result in fatalities.  Most often, head-on crashes cause severe and sometimes life-threatening injuries.

The majority of head-on crashes involve driver negligence by one or more operators of motor vehicles.  Head-on crashes typically occur when one driver does not remain in their own lane and veers into the opposite side of traffic, resulting in a collision.  Head-on collisions also occur when a driver goes the wrong way.  For example, a head-on collision may occur when a driver enters a roadway on an off ramp instead of the on-ramp entrance, or when a driver illegally turns onto a one-way road.  Unfortunately, head-on collisions cause serious and often deadly accidents.
