5 Individuals are Injured in Crash in Westside, Florida

JACKSONVILLE, FL – According to online news reports at and, at least 5 individuals sustained serious injuries in a crash that occurred on Manning Cemetery Road and Normandy Boulevard. Three of the five injured victims were children.*

According to the Jacksonville Fire and Rescue Department (JFRD), 5 people, including 3 children, were injured following a multi-vehicle accident.  

The JFRD report that 5 individuals sustained serious injuries and were transported to a local hospital for treatment.  The accident involved three vehicles as well as a single-vehicle secondary accident.  The cause of the accident has not been disclosed by local authorities.

There are several causes of multi-vehicle accidents.  These are as follows:

·Inclement weather. Multi-vehicle accidents are common when drivers do not exercise caution while driving in heavy rain, ice, snow, and dense fog.  

·Speeding. a driver’s reaction time is compromised when they are speeding.  Oftentimes, those who are speeding are involved in serious and sometimes fatal accidents given the force of impact.

·Impaired driving. Driving while impaired by drugs and alcohol reduces a driver’s reaction time and causes poor coordination and concentration.  It also causes a driver to misjudge distance, leading to serious and sometimes fatal accidents.

·Speeding. Driver’s reaction time is severely compromised when they speed. The force of the impact, should the driver be involved in an accident, is greater when someone exceeds the speed limit.

·Distracted driving. Operating a vehicle while eating, drinking, fiddling with a radio or GPS device, talking on a cellphone, or texting takes a person’s eyes off of the road, leading to serious and often fatal accidents.

·Drowsy driving. Driving while fatigued is much like driving while intoxicated and is a major cause of accidents in the United States. Drowsy drivers often veer into oncoming traffic or rear-end other vehicles.
