Fatal Pedestrian Accident Occurs on Hwy 220 in Rockingham County, North Carolina
ROCKINGHAM COUNTY, NC. – According to an online news report published at myfox8.com, a fatal pedestrian accident occurred on Highway 220 Business in Rockingham County, North Carolina. The accident is still under investigation at this time, and it is not yet clear if any charges will be filed in the case.*
The accident happened in the morning near Peddle Road on Business 220. This is near Mayodan, North Carolina. North Carolina State Highway Patrol and Fox 8 report that at about 9 a.m., a woman was trying to cross the highway and was hit by a passing vehicle. The report states that the woman had gotten out of a vehicle and was then attempting to cross the road.
It is not clear where the woman was headed or why she got out of her vehicle. The make and model of her vehicle and the vehicle that hit her were not reported. Troopers did not say what direction she was walking at the time or what direction the vehicle had been traveling before the collision. The events leading up to the accident are not yet clear.
Fox 8 reports that the woman was tragically killed in the accident. She was not identified in the news report. It is unclear if she had been alone in the vehicle before she got out and started walking on the roadway.
