Fatal Two-Vehicle Wreck Occurs on Mooresville Rd. in Salisbury, North Carolina

SALISBURY, NC. – According to an online news report posted at, a fatal two-vehicle wreck occurred on Mooresville Road in Salisbury, North Carolina. The crash was reportedly head-on, and authorities are working to determine what events led to the accident. Investigation is still ongoing.*

The crash happened on an unknown stretch of Mooresville Road. No intersection or landmark was named in the report, so the exact location of the collision is not known. The Salisbury Police Department and WBTV report that a 2019 Jeep Cherokee was traveling east on the roadway and somehow crashed head-on into a 1996 GMC pickup truck that was traveling west on the same road. This information was according to witnesses at the scene. 

It is not clear what caused the driver of the Jeep to depart from the east lane. No information about the circumstances surrounding the crash or potential factors at play in the accident was included in the news report. Police are still investigating to try to find out what happened. No charges have been filed at this time, and it is not clear if charges are anticipated. 

WBTV reports that the driver of the GMC pickup truck was tragically killed in the crash. He was identified by officials as a 53-year-old man from Salisbury. WBTV further reports that a passenger in the pickup truck was injured in the collision and transported to Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center for treatment. He was identified as a 70-year-old man from Salisbury. His injuries are said to be critical. 

The driver of the Jeep was identified as a 47-year-old woman from Cleveland. WBTV reports that she was treated by paramedics at the scene and then taken to a local hospital for further care. Her current condition is not known. 

The accident caused a temporary closure on Mooresville Road.
