Pedestrian Seriously Injured After Hit by Vehicle on Pine Forest Rd. in Pensacola, Florida
PENSACOLA, FL. – According to a news report published online at pnj.com, a pedestrian suffered serious injuries after being hit by a vehicle on Pine Forest Road in Pensacola, Florida. The victim and the driver have been identified by authorities, and the driver is reportedly being charged in connection with the incident.*
The accident happened in the evening, close to Godwin Lane on Pine Forest Road. Florida Highway Patrol and the Pensacola News Journal report that at approximately 8 p.m., a pedestrian was attempting to cross Pine Forest Road, walking west. At the same time, a Chevrolet Trailblazer was traveling on the roadway and tried to move into the left-turn lane near Godwin Lane.
In moving into the left-turn lane, the Chevy reportedly ran into the pedestrian, who was still in the roadway. The news report says that the front of the vehicle hit the pedestrian’s left side. The driver of the vehicle reportedly told authorities that she did not see the pedestrian. It appears from the news report that the pedestrian had the right-of-way at the time of the accident.
The Pensacola News Journal reports that the pedestrian sustained injuries in the collision, and emergency responders took her to Sacred Heart Hospital for medical treatment. She was identified in the report as a 42-year-old woman from Pensacola. Her injuries were said to be serious. A current medical condition for the victim was not included in the news story.
The driver of the Chevy was identified as a 52-year-old woman from Pensacola. She was reportedly not injured in the accident. It is not clear if she was the only person in the Chevy when the collision took place. The Pensacola News Journal states that the driver was charged with failing to yield to the right-of-way. No further information was reported regarding the accident.
