Wrong-Way Vehicle Accident on Hwy 98 in Walton County, Florida, Tragically Kills Two

WALTON COUNTY, FL. – According to an online news report posted at, a wrong-way vehicle accident that happened on Highway 98 in Walton County, Florida, tragically killed two people. The cause of the accident is not yet clear, and Florida Highway Patrol is looking into the case.* 

The accident happened during the evening close to County Road 395 on Highway 98. Florida Highway Patrol and WJHG report that a Honda of unknown model was traveling the wrong direction on the roadway, approaching the intersection with the county road. It is not clear how long the Honda had been traveling in the opposite-bound lane or why the driver was in the wrong lane of the road. 

Near County Road 395, the Honda ended up colliding with a Kia of unknown model. The Kia had been traveling east on the highway, while the Honda was traveling west in the eastbound lane. The events leading to the crash are not known, and the report did not say how the vehicles collided, though it was assumed to have been a head-on collision. 

WJHG reports that the driver of the Kia was tragically killed in the accident. She was identified as a 17-year-old girl from Panama City, Florida. The report says she was the only person in her vehicle at the time of the collision.

WJHG additionally reports that the driver of the Honda was also tragically killed in the crash. She was identified as a 23-year-old woman. Her city of residence was not listed in the report. The report says she was also the only person in her vehicle when the accident occurred. 

Florida Highway Patrol is continuing to investigate the accident. At the time that the WJHG report was published online, Troopers had not released further details regarding the collision or their investigation into the case.
